Contai - Kanthi
Contai / Kanthi is a sub-divisional town in East Midnapore district. It is the gateway for Digha, Junput and other coastal places. Contai is famous for Kaju Nuts and Kaju-Burfi, the style of which is different from those available in other part of India. Contai has a great contribution in the freedom fight of India. No doubt, this is an historical place. The emperor of Bengali literature, Bankimchandra Chattopadhyay, was the judge of Contai court and he wrote his famous novel \"Kapalkundala\" based on this place.
Almost whole of Contai is on Hills of Sand !
